JOB DESCRIPTION: Festival Assistant to the Executive Producer Summer Intern Position

Start Date: June 2, 2008
Salary: $3500 for 10 weeks
Hours: 40 hours per week.

Description of Organization: The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival (LAWTF) is a non-profit arts organization that was founded in 1993 to provide a vehicle for the development of women solo artists and their works. LAWTF also provides educational outreach programming to the community and public schools.

Description of Duties: Primary projects will be to take charge of the performer submissions process for the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival 2008 and to provide daily operational support across the spectrum of administration including general administration, educational programming, development, marketing, and graphic design support. The skills and interests of the Intern will be considered in assigning duties.

Reports to: Executive Producer

Qualifications: LAWTF seeks an organized, self-starter with a passion for LAWTF’s mission. Applicants should possess strong computer, verbal and written skills. Previous office experience is highly desirable. Creative problem solving skills needed. Must have working computer knowledge of Word, Excel, and other basic software programs. Basic bookkeeping skills and graphic design skills highly desirable. Ability to use Constant Contact also a plus. College undergraduates must be currently enrolled and have completed at least one semester of college by June, 2008 and will not graduate before December 2008. Student must be a resident of or attend college in Los Angeles County .

Intern Sponsorship: This internship is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.  More than 130 undergraduate interns will participate in the program this year at performing, presenting, and literary nonprofit arts organizations and municipal arts agencies throughout LA County.  In addition to their full-time 10 week paid internship, interns will participate in four educational events as part of the program, which are funded by the Getty Foundation.  The educational events are designed to provide interns with a broader perspective of the vibrant arts and cultural landscape of the County.  For additional information on the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, the Arts Internship Program, and for a complete list of all the internships offered this summer, visit the Arts Commission website at www.lacountyarts.org.
