- US Bank joined LAWTF as a Title Official Sponsor. 2007-
LAWTF received a grant from the City of West Hollywood to produce Teen
Telebration: Telling our Stories with Gay and Lesbian Adolescence Social
Services (GLASS) group home teens at Plummer Park in West Hollywood. 2007-
LAWTF began partnering with Belmont High School. Four Festival 2007
artists performed on-site for students in Belmont’s Art Academy. 2007-
LAWTF received its first grant from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission
to fund a full-time college student summer internship for 10 weeks. 2006
- LAWTF received the prestigious Women in Theatre 2006 Red Carpet Award
for Outstanding Community Arts Programming. 2006
- LAWTF began partnering with Enrichment Works to take arts programming
into the Los Angeles Unified School District during school hours. 2005
- United Airlines chose LAWTF as one of its twenty-five nonprofit grantees
from around the United States where United Airlines employees volunteer.
Venita Jacobson, a United Airlines employee, has volunteered/consulted
with LAWTF since its inception in 1993. 2005
- LAWTF expanded its Educational Outreach Program to establish Arts
Enrichment Programs in the Los Angeles Unified School District with the
Creative Kids After School Program. LAWTF has presently served over 1000
youth in over 40 K-5 elementary schools in the San Fernando Valley. 2004
– LAWTF launched its Annual Mother’s Day event, Melodies in Motion.
Performers have included Dawnn Lewis, Freda Payne, Phil Upchurch and Tata
Vega. 2004
– The Los Angeles County Arts Commission joined LAWTF as a government
funder. 2004
– The Daily News came aboard as Title Official Sponsor. 2003
- The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs came aboard as a
Major Supporter and offered the Los Angeles Theatre Center for a month
long celebration of Festival programming. 2003
- McDonald's came aboard as an Official Sponsor. 2002

- LAWTF became a membership organization 2002
- LAWTF began taping its public access cable show, Los Angeles Women's
Theatre Festival: On The Air! at Adelphia (now Time Warner) in Van Nuys. 2001
- The Mutual Trust of California, Gail R. Moore and Adilah Barnes
Productions came aboard as Official Sponsors.
The Festival became international with artists from Russia, England
and Brazil. 2001
– For the first time, LAWTF’s Annual Festival included youth and male
performers. 2002
– LAWTF launched its Wisdom Wednesdays Writing Program for adult solo
writers. Over 20 new works have been performed during subsequent LAWTF
Annual Festivals as part of Hot Off the Press. 2001
- The Trust for Mutual Understanding granted $30,000 to LAWTF to bring The
Kamchatka Theatre Company as special guests from Russia for the 2001
Season. 2000
- LAWTF opened its doors at its first unshared office space at 11411
Cumpston Street, Suite 204 , North Hollywood , California 91601 . 1999
– NBC came aboard as an Official Sponsor. It produced and bicycled
PSA’s with Danny Glover to Los Angeles television stations. 1999
– Hattie Winston came aboard as Honorary Co-Chairperson. 1999
– Union Bank of California and Bank of America came aboard as Official
Sponsors. 1998
– The Gas Company of Southern California and Breathe Asure came aboard
as LAWTF’s first Official Sponsors. 1998
- Danny Glover came aboard as Honorary Chairperson for the Festival. 1996
- LAWTF received its first California Arts Council grant. 1995
