This award is bestowed upon an artist or individual who has brought credibility and dignity to her work.

Director Amy Gonzalez most recently directed Voir Dire for Theatre Works where she also directed Broken Eggs, Our Lady of the Tortilla, and New Business. She directed The True History of Coca-Cola in Mexico for the San Diego Repertory Theatre and directed several productions for El Teatro Campesino, including I Don’t Have To Show You No Stinking Badges at the New Mexico Repertory Theatre, El Fin del Mundo at the Yerk a Buena Center for the Performing Arts and the National Tour of Simply Maria. As the Literary Manager and Resident Director for the Eureka Theatre Company in San Francisco, Amy directed productions of The Granny (La Nona) and Roots in Water. She has directed for new play development programs including South Coast Repertory Theatre’s Hispanic Playwrights’ Project and also for Midwest PlayLabs and New Dramatist. Amy was awarded at NEA/TCG Director Fellowship and holds an M.F.A. in directing from the University of Washington in Seattle.
