This award is given to an
artist or individual whose work has set a high standard of individuality and self-styled
creativity.
Playwright Jeannie Barroga lives in
San Francisco and is currently TheatreWorks Literary Manager and a Spectrum Artist.
A member of the Eureka PlayLab and Dramatists Guild, she founded the Playwright Forum in
Palo Alto, now Theatre Works Discovery Project, and teaches playwriting primarily at
Asian American Theatre. Last year, her plays received twelve productions, including the
Bay Area tour of Kin, Eye of the Coconut, Walls (to be published by University of
Massachusetts-Amherst Press), and Kenny Was a Shortstop and The Revered Miss Newton, both
published in a book of her one-acts. In February, Ritas Resources received a
workshop production at Pan Asian Repertory in New York.
