Lisa K. Lock performs the choreography of Kitty Mcnamee

“Why, Why, Why” A piece choreographed by Hysterica Dance Company artistic director Kitty Mcnamee.  The dance “Why, Why, Why” takes a fear-based look at terrorism.

Kitty McNamee is the artistic director of Hysterica Dance Co. Hysterica has most recently performed at Disney Hall, the dancenow/NYC Festival at Joyce SOHO, the Manhattan School of Music, d.u.m.b.o. dance festival and WHITE WAVE Performance Space in NY, Helm’s Fine Arts Center, Austin, TX, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Ford Amphitheatre. Kitty also teaches contemporary dance, master classes in choreography and is a teaching artist for the McCallum Institute.
Her recent theatrical credits include "Romeo et Juliette" at LA Opera, "Songs for a New World" at the Rubicon Theater and "Wing on Wing" at Disney Hall.


Lisa K. Lock, received her Bachelor Degree in ‘91 and her Masters in ‘93 from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles. She also holds a Ballet Diploma from the Grande Ecole de Danse in Bern, Switzerland.

As an artist, Ms. Lock has been performing her solo works in contemporary ballet, modern and dance theatre, internationally, and in Los Angeles for the past ten years. She was voted Female Dancer of the year 2004, by the Beverly Hills Outlook, and received a Lester Horton Award for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography in 2002. 

Los Angeles appearances include ten consecutive annual Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival and two “Split in and out of LA” series as well as several “Spectrums”, produced by Deborah Brockus. Other festivals and productions include LA County’s Open House, Dance for Wellness, Highways Performance Space with La Danserie, and her solo show “Collected Moments” at L.A.C.E (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) in ‘99. Her solo work has been included in productions at Moorpark College, Scripps College in a lecture demonstration setting, as a guest artist she has been invited to perform at Cerritos College, Antelope Valley College, the CalArts Dance Ensemble as well as Dance Kaleidoscope, Voices in Motion, the Huntington Beach Arts Center, and First Impressions.

International Lisa K. Lock performed in the ’04 Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland and the International Choreographer Showcase in Paris at the Regard du Cygne Studio Theatre. In 03’ she traveled to Guatemala City and Antigua, Guatemala, and in the summer of ’02 Ms. Lock returned to her native Switzerland to perform her solo concert at the EXPO 2002 in the Swiss Abroad Program. In ’99 she toured Austria and Lithuania with the American Choreographer’s Showcase, and was invited to perform live for Swiss TV in collaboration with Manuel Montanana. 

As a freelance artist Ms. Lock is performing with Hysterica Dance Company under the artistic directorship of Kitty McNamee. In the past she appeared with La Danserie, both as choreographer and dancer, as well as with Ryan Heffington’s Co-Lab Dance Theatre, Robert Gilliam, the Francisco Martinez Dance Theatre, KIN Dance Company, the CalArts Dance Ensemble and the Bridge Dance Theater in Los Angeles, and as a guest artist with the Northeast Ballet Company in Schenectady, NY.

Currently, Ms Lock teaches ballet, pointe, modern dance, and choreography at Moorpark College, LA Pierce College and the Oakley Ballet Center in Camarillo. 

Formerly she has been a lecturer in Dance at Cerritos College, Pomona College and the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts. She occasionally guest teaches at CalArts and in the past has managed their dance division of CAP (Community Arts Partnership), Lisa K. Lock also choreographed original works as an Artist in Residence for the students at the Antelope Valley College and Scripps College.
