Each year, the Festival review committee receives and previews hundreds of submission videos from solo performers from around the world.

Selection is fierce and based on the following criteria:

1) talent of the female artist
2) professionalism of the work
3) presentation (ie quality of DVD, supporting materials, expression of the artist/intent/reason for wanting to be a part of the Festival in cover letter
4) diversity of voices (ie subject, ethnicity, age, etc.)
5) need for the subject matter
6) suitability for LAWTF (high level of standards, appropriateness, etc)

The diversity of the message which includes, dance, aerial, song, spoken word, poetry, drama is unified around one theme: no matter how difficult the challenge, women have within them the ability to shine.
