Coming from New York, this piece based
on the Jena 6 high school students in Louisiana who experienced the
effects of racist acts and the subsequent judicial system, this
excerpted piece explores the town where this startling incident took
place.

Chelsea M. Gregory
is a multi-disciplinary artist, activist and educator who works
through the media of theater, poetry and dance. She is a part of the
multi-arts performance group We Got Issues! (www.wegotissues.org),
facilitating workshops and bringing the voices of diverse women to the
stage. She is also
currently touring The 6 Project, a series of performances and
workshops exploring how race and identity shape our point of view.
Her solo play based on this work will be featured at the LA
Women’s Theater Festival in March. Her poetry is published in
several anthologies including "We Got Issues! A Young Woman's
Guide to a Bold, Empowered and Courageous Life", Steve Cannon's
"Gathering of the Tribes," and "The Charis
Review." She has performed at venues including The Culture
Project "Women Center Stage," The Hip-Hop Theater Festival,
The Bioneers Conference, The US Social Forum and Chuck D’s “On the
Real Radio.” She has
shared the stage with performers such as KRS 1, Rha Goddess, Rebel
Diaz and Kelly Tsai, and collaborated with the Urban Bush Women
Institute on a piece exploring race in the context of Hurricane
Katrina. As an educator she has consulted with organizations such as
Code Pink, Make the Road NY, The School at Columbia University and
Voices UnBroken, facilitating workshops on arts in education, cultural
activism, and diversity awareness. She has also led workshops at
Columbia University, UC Berkeley, Hampshire College, UMASS Amherst,
Adelphi University, The Liberty Science Center and the White Privilege
