“In These Moments (Revisited)” (dance)

"In These Moments" is a work that explores the influence of ones culture, gender and economic background when working through the creative process.

Akweta L. Colbert is currently the Artistic Director of the newly formed modern dance company, ode Performance Group and Founder of Collectif, an organization dedicated to building a community of artist in the greater Los Angeles area. A native of Southern California, in 2001 she relocated to the Bay Area to pursue her academic and artistic career. In the spring of 2004 she graduated with a B.A. in Dance from San Francisco State University. While there she had the privilege of serving as the resident companies Student Director. Akweta went on to receive her MFA from Mills College in the spring of 2006. She has performed in the bay areas, Summer Fest/ West Wave Dance Festival and has performed the works of Arturo Fernandez, Cathleen McCarthy, Molissa Fenley, Sonya Delwaide and Margaret Jenkins. Akweta is actively pursuing a professional teaching, performance and choreographic career in dance.
