Green (storytelling)
"Wookin
Pa Nub"
If
you’ve spent any time in the Los Angeles area you know that finding
love ain’t easy.
Just ask Erika Green who has been a search for the perfect
relationship since the age of seven and won’t stop her dogged
pursuit until she finds the “Captain” to her “Tenille”, the
peanut butter to her jelly, the macaroni to her…well you get the
point.
In her one woman show, Wookin
Pa Nub, Erika takes the audience on a fun-filled, music-fueled
ride through her hilarious and completely awkward love history.
(where else can you find Spandau Ballet, accidental adultery,
and a musical homage to gay men?)
*************************************
The first time
Erika donned one of her mother’s wigs, a pair of her high heels, and
a hairbrush, at the age of five, she knew she was destined for
greatness if not an incredibly wild ride through life.
Involved in theatre arts from an early age, she performed a lot
of opera and musical theatre in High School.
Interestingly enough, when it came time for college, she chose
to attend Cornell University’s world renown Hotel School because she
was hell bent on becoming a chef like her childhood idol, Julia Child
only with an afro and much more attitude. While Erika made her way through the hospitality industry,
theatre was never far away as she was an “Actlete” with the improv
group Comedy Sportz in
Arlington, VA. After one winter too many on the east coast, Erika
moved to California where she received her MBA from UCLA’s Anderson
School of Business and moved into the entertainment industry.
Since her westward turn, Erika has written scripts and rants
for herself, as well as sketch comedy for groups like Big
News. “Wookin Pa Nub” was Erika’s first foray into long
format, single person performance.
Currently Erika writes and performs pieces monthly with “The
Write Club,” a group of divas who “tell it like it is” about
themselves and the world around them.
She may not be a chef, but you better believe she still cooks
like nobody’s business!
