Vijai Nathan (Stand-up)

“Good Girls Don't But Indian Girls Do”

An Indian-American takes the audience on her search for identity.

*************************************

In “Good Girls Don’t, But Indian Girls Do,” Nathan breaks many taboos as she exposes the underbelly of an Indian American family.  From discovering sex in a strict Hindu household to trying to fit in to her Jewish neighborhood, Nathan finds out what it means to be American.  It's "Gandhi" meets "Pretty in Pink."

In 1997, Vijai Nathan horrified her traditional Indian parents by quitting her job, canceling her wedding and becoming a stand-up comedian.  She hasn't looked back since!  Nathan has gone on to become the leading Indian American female comedian making people laugh across America and internationally too!

Nathan’s credits include a nomination for Best Comedian of 2005 by South Asian Media Awards, NBC’s Top 10 Comics in the Nation for its Stand-Up for Diversity Showcase in Los Angeles, Sept. 2004, being named Back Stage Magazine’s top ten stand-up comics in 2003, chosen as one of two comics to represent America at the Smirnoff International Comedy Festival in Cape Town, South Africa in September of 2003 and numerous TV appearances including ABC News’ 20/20, PBS, The Oxygen Network, and the BBC.

Nathan’s humor springs from her experiences of growing up as a “foreigner" in America- despite the fact she was born and raised in a suburb of Washington D.C.
