“The
Italian In Me”
A
wacky and perverted journey of an Italian-American actress who tries
to be taken seriously as a performer in
Italy
.
*************************************
Canadian
born, Dina Morrone, was born in
Thunder Bay
, a small Northern Ontario city situated on the northwestern tip of
Lake Superior
to Italian immigrant parents. Her
first time on stage was at the age of four when, along with her older
sister, she sang at the Local Italian Banquet Hall Annual Christmas
Party for three hundred hungry, distracted, screaming Italians. This
surreal moment left her with a burning desire to be in front of an
audience. Through
countless short stories, Morrone has given birth to her one-woman
show, “The Italian in Me.”
After performing in numerous school plays and talent shows, Morrone
joined a modeling/talent in
New York
where she also discovered and pursued her passion for designing
clothes. After graduating from the Ryerson University Fashion Design
Program in
Toronto
, she designed clothes for local rock bands and private clients while
pursuing an acting career. She
was eventually booked on commercials for Kodak, RCA Records, and
American Express and while hosting a travel show in location in
Antigua, she met up with several Italian nationals who encouraged her
to try
Italy
.
Morrone moved to
Rome
and shortly thereafter was selected by FORD Automobiles, Italy
Division, for a national ad campaign. What followed was work in
feature films, theater, and additional commercials.
While in
Rome
, Morrone also had the opportunity to work as personal assistant to
American film and stage actress Susan Strasberg, during Susan’s
“Intensive Master Acting Workshops.” Since moving to
Los Angeles
, Morrone has been actively involved with various Theatre Groups. She
continues to work as an actress, voice-over talent, and writer.
Dina has also written monologues, editorial pieces, and
screenplays.
