“Slow Children Playing”  


This is Mary Kate’s heartwarming story of a developmentally delayed life as told through the eyes of her “normal” sister.

Anna Marie Agniel, an actor, writer and director is a St. Louis native who received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with an emphasis in Playwriting.  She spent a year at The Samuel Beckett School of Drama at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.  In Chicago, Agniel appeared in Flanagan’s Wake with the Noble Fool Theatre, Kafka’s Metamorphosis with GrayZelda Theatre Company, Pumpkins for Smallpox and JANE: Abortion and the Underground with 20% Theatre Chicago, and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with Emerald City Theatre Company.

Slow Children Playing is her first solo performance piece and made its world premiere at the Single File Solo Festival in Chicago in 2004.  Agniel tours the piece to schools across the country, performing and teaching workshops for students ages 8 to 18.  Slow Children Playing was performed at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival in June 2005 where it won the Producer’s Pick of the Fringe award.  Agniel last performed this solo show at the New York International Fringe Festival in August.
